Prishani Satyapal

Prishani is the founding CEO of Sustainability Truthing.

Prishani is passionate about the long term value that business can create in society and she has worked with corporate environmental and social change processes throughout her 20+ year career. She has worked in areas requiring the development of new business models, unlocking value by managing and understanding sustainability risks and opportunities. Intrinsic to her learning is an in-depth understanding of the brave leadership required for corporate change, building trust and true environmental stewardship.

Prishani has worked in management roles in professional services, finance, and primarily mining. Her professional services roles included lead consultant, client manager and business development, sustainability and human rights auditor, and due diligence management. Her industry experience while in professional services includes gold and diamond mining, global apparel supply chains, banking, consumer products and industry associations. In Prishani’s corporate roles she developed policy, managed review processes, designed strategy and engaged teams in implementing change.

Prishani has also created professional development programmes for sustainability professionals with the University of Cape Town.

Prishani’s key strength is her ability to develop an understanding of complex issues at a broad systemic level, identifying the change levers at an operational level and developing strategies to drive sustainable change. She communicates with passion and enthusiasm and is able to engage with a wide range of role-players on complex issues.

In 2013, Prishani managed the Mining Industry’s engagement with the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, and the subsequent Day of Reflection on 7 September. She has supported the industry engagement with faith groups during 2014. Prishani has experience of mining across the world and for 8 years worked at AngloGold Ashanti, as Corporate Vice President Sustainability. During this time she also led the Sustainability Portfolio of the company’s Ghanaian operations for 2.5 years.

In 2013, Prishani was named one of the most Inspiring Women in Mining (Barclays Bank). Prishani has extensive multi-industry experience gained while working at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) between 1999 – 2007. Prishani has worked in over 20 countries in Africa, Europe, South America and Australasia. Prishani has a Master’s Degree in Business Responsibility and Practice from the University of Bath.
